How Talent Rocks helps CRAFTER train logistics staff and maintain high standards
A fast-growing company with a large branch network was looking for a way to automate new hire onboarding and standardize its mentoring program. Flexibility and mobility were the key selection criteria, and the best fit turned out to be a mobile learning app built on the Talent Rocks platform.
Client
CRAFTER is one of Russia’s leading road freight companies and ranks among the country’s top 5 freight forwarders.
CRAFTER is growing fast, expanding its footprint and hiring many new employees for customer service centers across 47 branches throughout Russia. One of the company’s core principles is maintaining the same high standards of professionalism at every customer touchpoint.
To achieve this, CRAFTER runs a three-month training program for new hires built around mentoring.
Our main goal is to build a learning path for each new employee that introduces them to all of the company’s technologies and requirements within their first few months.
Every new hire is assigned a mentor — their direct manager or a more experienced employee with deep expertise. In parallel, we give employees materials for self-study, and at the end of the probation period we run a final assessment.
Challenges
At CRAFTER, new hires learn on the job under a mentor’s supervision. However, logistics specialists’ work computers aren’t suitable for online courses — they must be ready to serve customers at any moment.
Mobility became the main requirement for the e-learning platform. Employees needed to be able to study materials, watch video lessons and take knowledge checks anytime, anywhere — on a break, at home or on the way to work.
CRAFTER solved this with a mobile onboarding and training app built on the Talent Rocks platform.
Solution
When new employees are hired, they are asked to install the “Crafter Club” app. App users are split into two groups, “New Hires” and “Mentors,” and each group has access to its own content.
“New Hires” get self-study materials and knowledge-check tests, while “Mentors” get information about the mentoring program and descriptions of the procedures and rules for assessing whether an employee is ready to work independently.
The ability to tailor app content to different user groups is one of the key features of the Talent Rocks platform. An administrator can make training courses and individual app sections available only to a specific category of employees and hidden from everyone else. This lets the app serve as a single training platform for the entire workforce, from front-office staff to managers.
Thanks to the mobility and flexibility of the chosen platform, every new employee has an individual learning path with checkpoints tied to their time with the company.
At each checkpoint, we review what the employee has learned over the period and how well, and give feedback. The employee, in turn, also gives feedback on how their onboarding is going.
Next steps
CRAFTER plans to keep using Talent Rocks to onboard and train new employees.
