How Avatariya onboards
and trains Gen Z with an app
Young employees never part with their smartphones. Why not put that habit to good use? You can onboard and train new hires while strengthening team spirit. That’s exactly what the Avatariya chain of family entertainment parks did.
Client
Avatariya is a chain of family activity and entertainment parks in four cities in Kazakhstan. The company employs over 800 people, and the team keeps growing as new centers open.
Challenge
The company has many young employees who need to be trained to work in the café and on the attractions, to interact with children and to follow corporate standards. Many employees are students with little time for training.
The company had several goals:
- Create a platform for mobile learning and an internal social network
- Develop a gamification program to keep employees engaged
- Automate the process of assigning learning paths
The platform was to become a single communication channel between employees and the company.
We faced two obstacles at once: new hires’ low interest in training and a lack of time for it. On top of that, briefings and rote learning no longer work. So we started focusing on mindfulness and conveying the company’s values.
Solution
After testing several other platforms, Avatariya chose Talent Rocks.
The platform was fully branded in Avatariya’s colors, and content was added in parallel.
Users were added to the platform via smart groups,
which automatically group employees by set conditions (for example, position or city).
When an employee joins a smart group, a learning path is assigned automatically.
The training content consists of videos, presentations and text documents
that are hosted on the platform and available to employees at any time.
Gamification
Challenges and gamification are actively used to engage employees in company life. For example, employees share a work life hack, an achievement or a recipe associated with the company.
All assignments are reviewed, after which employees receive reward points. Rewards are given for completing learning paths and offline activities. Points can also be awarded manually for specific work achievements. Points can later be exchanged for gifts in the store built into the platform.
The app has a news feed where employees learn about company news and receive digests.
Thanks to the app, we automated onboarding and gained tools to track training levels, plus another channel for corporate communications.
Just as importantly, employees didn’t resist the tool, and they use it actively.
Summary
Today, almost 200 employees at the two largest activity parks use the app. The company is actively studying which content and approaches employees like best so it can later scale training across the whole company and the branches it plans to open.

EdTech methodologist“Talent Rocks wasn’t the only company considered for a mobile onboarding platform. One of our advantages was a long trial period of up to 30 days, which we can extend if needed.
We also brand the platform to the client’s requirements, so they’re not testing something generic but a nearly finished product that’s much easier to evaluate.
The trial lasted a month and a half, and in that time, together with the Avatariya team, we built a product ready to launch at almost any moment: learning paths were set up and existing training content was added. Before launch, we set up data export from Bitrix to the platform via the Talent Rocks API.
So during the trial itself we already had a ready solution that could help with employee onboarding and later scale to hundreds of Avatariya employees.”
